Vino Calvente

Vino Calvente is a very unique dry white Moscatel wine produced in the heights of the Almijara mountain, nearby the springs of Rio de la Miel. It is one of the different varieties of wines produced by Bodegas Calvente, a very old winery established in the village of Jete. Bodegas Calvente is a small artisan winery that seeks excellence in the fruit. The secret of these wines is found in the old vines cultivated in very few hectares of the La Guindalera and Castillejos payments, and in the unique microclimate of these payments.

For hundreds of years the Muscat of Alexandria vineyards in the mountains of the coastline south of Granada, in the Sierra de Los Guájares, have been famous. This is where the vines between 30 and 120 years old that Horacio Calvente cultivates with care are found, on the implausible slopes of the Pago de la Guindalera. From these vineyards arises a dry white wine from Muscat of Alexandria that proudly bears the name of Calvente, considered one of the best wines in the world by the best known communicators.

The vines literally look out over the Mediterranean as if suspended from balconies at 800 and 1000 meters of altitude, which favors the thermal contrast that allows optimal ripening without loss of acidity. The best Muscat vineyards of Alexandria for an unrepeatable wine ... In those same mountains, a few km as the crow flies, but several hours away due to the rugged terrain that join them, is the Pago de Castillejos. At an altitude of 1,000 meters, the Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Tempranillo and Syrah vines that Horacio Calvente planted in the 1980s mature with balance.
